What I have so far. I started off doing the second set of cables wrong (moved the cable to the back instead of front), but it doesn’t bother me in the least so I won’t rip. I like the yarn, not so sure it’s right for the pattern though. There is a lot going on.

On Sourdough Chocolate Cake

Sourdough Chocolate Cake This cake turned out light (as in airy, calories… I’m not counting) and delicious! BTW, here is one of my favorite shops to find a variety of dark chocolates: seventypercent.com

Sourdough Chocolate Cake
1 cup butter
1 2/3 cup sugar (I used Splenda)
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 ounces melted dark (or bakers) chocolate (I used melted Michel Cluizel Grand Noir 85%)
1 3/4 cup flour
1 cup sourdough starter (I used an Italian Ischia Island starter)
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder

Cream sugar and butter, blend in melted and cooled chocolate, add eggs and vanilla.
Add in sourdough starter, salt and flour, water and oil. Mix well and till smooth.
Add baking soda and baking powder at the end, mixing well.
Either divide into two greased and floured 9″ round cake pans or one 9×13 pan.
Bake at 350 for 30mins.

re-do. I ripped my first sock because it ended up being too big. Apparently I didn’t measure the right spot on my foot for circumference or something… don’t know, but it wasn’t working for me. I didn’t rip the lace cuff however. I just did a bunch of decreases after the k1p1 rounds to get down to a medium size. I decided to work the second one right away to make sure that my changes also reflected in the second sock.

They fit much better now.

Now I am ready for straight knitting to the toe decreases.

Summer Of Love Lace
Here is my progress on AUG/SEPT Rockin’ Sock Club socks. About 2 more inches before the decreases start.

Love the cuff! I had to rip once since I did not pay attention to the pattern and did not start and end the edges with a garter stitch.

My Journal Quilt

(add heavy sigh of relief here) My Journal Quilt is on it’s way to Houston! 16 days before the deadline. Whoopie!!!

Stay tuned for pictures and my artist statement in October when the the quilt is hung in the special exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Oops, strike that date! Apparently the show isn’t until November 1st this year. hmmm. I did not know that, I guess I ought to pay better attention?

On yummy Kauni Multicolors

Eye candy... Kauni EQ and EZ... and a little bisquit! :-)

I have a project in mind. I haven’t narrowed down which project I want to do, but it will either be:

1. Kauni SSSSweater
2. Ruth Sorensen’s Kauni Cardigan

They can be found at:
Astrid’s Dutch Obsessions

I bought six skeins of Rainbow and two of EZ, all from Astrid. I am not sure why this yarn is so difficult to track down in the USA, it is nice.

She even sent a little tasty biscuit with my order.

Mom… It’s a GrassHopper

We found a couple of grasshoppers today on our walk.

I had just told Daniel to give it a big kiss… what an expression he gave me! LOL!

Back to school…

Daniel’s first day of 2nd grade. I am as nervous as he is I think… or, was… since he’s been in class now for 5 minutes (8:45). Too many things on my mind. We pulled him out of first grade, we homeschooled while figuring out what to do about his ADHD, and now I think we are ready to try school again. Daniel is excited about going back, and I guess that’s the most important thing. Right now anyway. I just have my concerns about medicating at school, but I have confidence all will go well. I hope.

On The Needles: Sweet Mary Jane

In Progress: Sweet Mary Jane In Progress: Sweet Mary Jane#1 without flash and #2 with flash. The color is somewhere in the middle.

So, I decided to do a couple of rows on my Sweet Mary Jane cardigan tonight. I am really upset however that I didn’t pay attention and had the knit and purl rows backwards. A few weeks ago, I worked on it, but did not mark my progress in my notes! grrrrrr…. So now I have two rows that are opposite. I refuse to rip back, and I am hoping that when all is said and done, it won’t be THAT noticeable. I am on the 11th (of 22) repeat (4 rows make up the pattern–or what I am calling “repeat”. I am having a bad day, sorry about the terms). I need to get skinny so knitting doesn’t take so darn long.

I had hoped that I could do a repeat each day (4 rows), but simply life and interest get in the way, so poor MJ is getting neglected. I did start a sleeve… but that one is mostly a play in design and I may be ripping that one as I changed it to straight stockingnet stitch, except for one section of the pattern that is running along with outermost part of the sleeve. I plan to make the sleeves longer than 3/4 length too.

On the needles: Plunge Neck Top

In Progress: Plunge Neck Top Patons booklet 500855 “Romance” with Lacette yarn; Plunge Neck Top.
Just a couple of changes:
1. in the round
2. white edging
3. will have sleeves

I started off with the idea of making “Empire Waist Top”, but the “Plunge Neck Top” grabbed my attention instead. It seems to be a relatively quick knit… though, my I am distracted by other things going on, so it will probably take me months to finish it. It is my hopes to have this top ready in time for Christmas. I like the blue, it reminds me of a Tiffany blue, so I thought I needed to add the off white yarn on the edges.

My eyes are thanking me after the Heartbeat Sweater yarn.
