On my first lace attempt

"Columbine Peak"
Pattern from “Socks Soar On Two Circular Needles” by Cat Bordhi. Except I like to use just one circular for the majority of the knitting, but pull out a second for the heel flap section. I fall back to one circular after my gusset decreases.

This has been my first attempt at a lace pattern. It’s actually not hard :-) go figure. I knew I would enjoy doing it, but charts seem so scary to look at! I thought this pattern was simple enough, and it’s not the size of a sweater–I can deal with socks.

I love the colorway of this yarn! But I am so frustrated with broken and knotted together skeins! This is the second of three “Sock It To Me” yarn skeins that has had split yarn knotted together. Of course I don’t notice until I am nearly ready to knit that part!

After I get my cool sock blockers, you’ll be able to see the lace pattern better. Mistakes and all!

Kevin's sock, finished
The yarn on the second sock almost finished at the same color section… but the left foot ended up with a bit of the next blue section. drats.

Mark my “February Socks” as finished. As for “Kevin’s Socks”, two years, ripping both socks back into skeins, & two weeks later… finished! Now I can knit for myself again… except, Daniel was asking when his socks were going to be worked on. At least his feet are smaller. Maybe I will make that my “March Socks” project.

One down, one to go. This sock took nearly the entire skein of “Sock it to Me Puzzle Yarn”. Big Foot for a hubby? I may re-do the toe after I finish sock #2.

Tomorrow I have plans to work in my quilt room.

Kevin's cuff down sock in progress

Three days of progress, compared to my first attempt in knitting socks for hubby (a year)… I am impressed with myself (trying not to break my arm with the back patting! LOL).

3 more inches before I can start the toe decreases. I have to say that my knitting has improved after I watched the video below to a while back. I wanted to try to get my form a little better, and ever since I have been knitting much more effectively–and faster to boot.

It is for continental knitting. I think before, I was doing a variation of that and throwing. I still don’t have purl down as she describes, but I work that pretty close to her demonstration.

I thought it was time to work on my “Feburary Socks”, to keep with my pair-of-socks-a-month goal. Last month I ripped Kevin’s previous toe-up socks and started cuff-down socks last night. Good progress, 6″ on the cuff. I have to see what length he wants, and then start the heel. I went down a half size on the needle, and so far I do like them better than the previous attempt. We’ll see after I get past the heel–which was where I really started hating on the old pair.

On my Shapely Tank/Tee, I am working on the first sleeve. Good progress there.
