On the yearly trip to the pumpkin farm

I think cropping the photos would be a good thing, but I am not up to it right now. I have several others on my flickr site, if interested. We came home with four big pumpkins, sweet potatoes, honey, and some smaller pumpkins. I thought Kevin would be in line longer so I could shop more, but I had to move quickly! This year the tractor ride cost $1, but it was a nice distraction (though, it did seem a little long at some points). This farm is located in Woodinville, there is a community garden along with some tenant farmers. The “pumpkin patch” was smaller this year, but just as good. I wish we would have visited while the sunflowers were still in bloom!

On An Evening of Firsts

First tooth lost We just lost our first tooth tonight! And in a prime camera/video moment… I didn’t have one… Daniel looked in the mirror and started crying, “put it back! I want it back in my mouth! Puuut iiiit baaaaaackkkkkkk!” Perfect America’s Funniest Home Video moment for certain. Goodbye $10k.

But I gave Daniel a teeny bit of Tylenol, Dad took pictures, along with a little video, and all is well now. Dan has also asked me if we “can have a celebration for his tooth tomorrow” along with saying that “this is the best day ever!” We are very excited at the Devin house tonight!

On Saying goodbye to my grandma

ChetEleanorOlson mom and grandma
I said goodbye to my grandma yesterday, my mom’s mother. She turned 86 in September, and yesterday she left us to join my grandpa and my parents in Heaven. I really like the picture of my grandma and grandpa walking away in the first image. It’s just a great image to have in my mind of Grandpa meeting her in the light and welcoming her Home.

The second picture is from a birthday dinner in 2000, celebrating my mom and grandma’s birthdays (they were two days apart).

Below is a quilt that I made for my grandma, a round robin, that I finished in 2000. I made the center with her in mind, Rhododendrons. At her home in Monroe that she and Grandpa had built, she had so many beautiful Rhody bushes. My favorite was a lemon yellow one. The owners have since removed the bushes from the circular drive. Sometimes you just shouldn’t revisit homes that still have emotional attachments.

On A Finished Cotton Chenille Blanket

Cat Diva Cat Diva
I won’t bore my reader/s (in case there is more than one! lol) with another full size picture of the blanket (it’s on my flickr site if you would like a peek–direct link), but I am excited that this six-month blanket is finished. I am really tired of the garter stitch! After washing, it came out soooo soft too. I was a little worried as I was knitting since the chenille did feel not as soft as I wanted–but after washing, it has come out perfect.

And true to diva-cat form, Gracie was ready for her photo op as soon as she saw the camera! Glad she approved, but I think she prefers my quilting over knitting. The second picture better reflects the true colors. The first is washed out from the flash. I’m still working on getting to know my new camera.
