More On Camera Phones

Littlegym1.JPG littlegym2.JPGI wanted to send another set of images from my camera phone (LG VX6000) taken on Wednesday when I took Daniel to The Little Gym. As you can see, the quality isn’t as good as when the subject is closer, but at least I can still send good sized images via the phone (clicking on the thumbnail will bring up the fullsized, unedited image).

So… Daniel is on the balance beam in the first image, and on the parallel bars in the second. He’s starting to get more brave. He is very cautious (which is good, but we want him to start taking chances), and by taking him to The Little Gym once a week for a class, we were hoping that it would help with feeling more confident. It’s been three weeks now, and I have been noticing growth. I am glad we signed him up for 21 weeks.

On Weight Watchers WI Day

I was too depressed after WI last week, that I didn’t record my gain. I know it had to do with sodium intake and female stuff, but still… the number was enormous. I lost the majority of the gain this week, and for this new week, I will continue to work on the progress I’ve made so far. I have been noticing that I am more upbeat lately, as well as being active outdoors with yardwork. I wish I could keep the upswing going for longer than what seems to be my typical. I am tired of the gain/loss dance. I need to work on some new moves.

Here is this week’s update for my journey with Weight Watchers:

On Camera Phones

Picture001.JPG Picture002.JPGThis weekend, Kevin and I upgraded our phones. About four years ago, we decided to join the cell phone crowd following a medical emergency with my dad. Before that, we had ditched our cell phones for about three years. The cell-free years were nice, we will admit that. But we are in the here-and-now again :-)

Anyway… back to the phone upgrade. Kevin wanted a phone with a camera (also wanted one that is Bluetooth enabled, but the one Verizon had was spendy), and I wanted a flip phone. So we found a buy-one-get-one-free that we both liked (Verizon’s LG VX6000. click here for a review ). I wish it had preloaded games… I like being able to play a cheesy game while waiting to pass the time on occasion :-) but if I want games, I have to pay. Oh well. And ringers! Sheesh… isn’t there a NORMAL ringer out there anymore? ok, what’s normal? I don’t know, but it seems that my phone has anything but :-) Today I did purchase a ringtone (The Great Escape), it’s from a war movie of the same name… and it was one of my dad’s favorites. Anyway, I liked the chipper, almost humor-filled tone of it, and it didn’t sound “tinny” like so many of the tones are. Every time I hear the song, I can see James Garner’s face :-) Little childhood memories.

Back to the camera part… I took a pic of Daniel on Saturday and today, quick snapshots. I haven’t played with it enough to get an idea if the color and quality is typical. Not bad shots, but Daniel does look pretty yellow in the second image. Neither have been retouched, so you can get an idea of what a camera phone image looks like. I did, however rotate the second image. First one was taken on Saturday in the late afternoon, second one was taken today at about noon. Seems to have focused on the front of his car seat… perhaps I just need to become a better photographer? :-)

On Shameless Self-Promotion

Well I went and done it. I posted some jewelry for sale on eBay. We’ll see how it goes. I think I definitely need to do something to pay for my bead bills :-) or so Kev would say! Next week I would like to do some necklaces, but I don’t think I will do as many as I did with the earrings. I would also like to post fiber art as well. I am sure there will be feast and famine as far as my creating goes.

Enjoy…

On Daniel’s First Day of School

P9070005 (2).JPG Today was Daniel’s first day of school. He was very excited! This year he is in “Project Transition”, a pre-kindergarten class at Hurray For Me! School in Shoreline, WA. He had a great day, and of course when it was time to go home, he did not want to. What an ego boost for me to have my child cry upon seeing me! ack! At least I know that he is happy and loving school.

On Losing Weight and Exercising

In my August 25th WI update, Tom had posted a comment: “My wife is using the WW plan, and is 10 lbs short of her goal. I give her and you lots of credit for sticking with it!! Now, if I can just get her to excercize a little with me - even just an evening walk of a mile or so…”

http://presidentschallenge.org/ To start here is a link to the President’s Challenge. It’s a fitness challenge to get people moving. There are awards when reaching a certain number of points. For me, I like the visual of my progress… any positive I can see, I need!

It is all in my motivation towards a bigger goal, rather than just the activity itself. I have found a lot of changes concerning my abilities over the last year, and I have to say that if Kevin wanted to go walking 2yrs ago, I would have probably been a hard push to get out the door. Well, actually, to be honest, we both would have been difficult to move.

I would get anxieties over walking. I would worry that I would walk, and it would hurt so bad that I wouldn’t be able to get home. Truth is, it did hurt but my anxieties would make it just that much worse. My solution to that was purchasing our first treadmill (which is now worn out!). When I first started, 5 minutes was an eternity to me. But today I am able to walk for an hour and instead of feeling pain, I feel elation. I have never felt anything like that previously during/after exercising. And now with the bonus of ski season coming up, I am just that much more excited with each time I exercise.

Instead of taking a walk, why not try something different… tennis, swimming, skiing :-), or another activity you can enjoy together? Perhaps she can try yoga? Finding the activity can be hard… If you are able to, maybe purchase a treadmill? (I love my new Smooth Fitness treadmill. It’s awesome!!) Even with my walking on the treadmill, having my focus really be on how good it feels to ski again is in my head. In fact, my calves have really shrunk over the past year, and I need to try on my ski boots soon to see if I need another adjustment (read, make smaller! yah!).

Anyway, yes, we can all lose weight, but in the end, I want to have the stamina and endurance to be able to continue with my new active lifestyle. Keep trying to encourage her… maybe make it a walk to Baskin-Robbins! LOL! That would motivate me! LOL!!
