On Hunter Douglas Cordless Shades

hddc.jpg I am so happy that I found and decided to try out Hunter Douglas Duette cellular shade with LiteRise. These shades are so great because of the fact that you don’t have a cord hanging down–tempting kids or pets to hurt themselves.

I happened upon these merely by accident. I never knew that a cordless option was out there. Upon receiving these shades, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to lift and lower! these aren’t like those roller shades where it’s sometimes hit and miss if the shade will roll up. My husband can attest that the shades are very easy to install as well. So far, we have shades up in both boys rooms and in my studio. I wasn’t thinking ahead when I ordered to purchase for Kevin’s office, so I am about a week away from receiving that one. I am thinking that after we get new windows installed in the kitchen, that I will also put these blinds in there too.

I have also found that yourblinds.com is a great company to order from. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to receive your order, but yourblinds.com keeps you up to date on the progress of shipping. Also, their prices are very comprable–if not better than other ebusinesses.

On House Remodeling

Our house is slowly turning into a real home! Incredible. We have been here for seven years, and after doing some remodeling along with doing some much needed repairs and updates, the house is starting to really feel much more inviting. This weekend Kevin and I boxed up eight boxes full of things to donate and send back out into the universe. I know I could sell the stuff on eBay and turn a few dollars, and have done that in the past. But I feel good about “setting it free” :-) The clutter (minus all of Daniel’s toys… ugh) is being depleted, and it feels great!

After everyone leaves following Justin’s HS graduation, I am planning to take pictures of my new studio and awesome closet. My in-laws will be staying in there since they won’t have to use the stairs, and we have a new full bath adjoining my studio.

I am so looking forward to starting on the kitchen next! LOL! Kev, are you reading this? How does July and August sound to you? I can’t wait to get my new kitchen cabinets out of the garage and into the kitchen!! they’ve only been in the garage for a year and a half now! hehee! Perhaps Kev could convince Brian to come help and blow it out in a weekend? :-)

Our Wedding Anniversary

Happy anniversary to Kevin and myself :-) Eight years down, at least 50 more to go! ;-)
